What is Imperial Chivalry of St. George?

Imperial Chivalry of St. George formed as a result of granting an Imperial Knighthood to the Grand Comptur. The Imperial Knighthood is a legal title, which gives the Grand Comptur the legal right to grant knighthoods upon others. Since then, the Grand Comptur has become the Grand Master of the Order worldwide.  The Order has also has attained Royal Patronage from the Sovereign Royal and Imperial House of Rurikovich.

The purpose of the Order is to attract knightly men and women to promote the ideals of Chivalry, Knightly actions and lifestyle, the principles of Christianity, and support like oriented organizations.

Heraldry and Chivalry
What is Chivalry?

Chivalry, or the chivalric code, is a code of conduct associated with the medieval institution of knighthood which developed between 1170 and 1220.

According to the British Medieval historian David Crouch, the historical debate on chivalry is an ancient one.  The late medieval code of chivalry had arisen from the idealisation of theearly medieval synthesis of Germanic and Roman martial traditions —involving military bravery, individual training, and service to others—especially in Francia, among horse soldiers in Charlemagne's cavalry. The term chivalry derives from the Old French term chevalerie, which can be translated to "horse soldiery".  Gautier states that knighthood emerged from the Teutonic forests and was nurtured into civilization and chivalry by the Catholic Church.

Over time, its meaning has been refined to emphasise social and moral virtues more generally. And the Code of Chivalry, as it stood by the Late Middle Ages, was a moral system which combined a warrior ethosknightly piety, and courtly manners, all conspiring to establish a notion of honour and nobility.

What is Heraldry?

Heraldry (/ˈhɛrəldri/) is the professionstudy, or art of creating, granting, and blazoning arms and ruling on questions of rank or protocol, as exercised by an officer of arms.  Heraldry comes from Anglo-Normanherald, from the Germanic compound harja-waldaz, "army commander".  The word, in its most general sense, encompasses all matters relating to the duties and responsibilities of officers of arms.  To most, though, heraldry is the practice of designing, displaying, describing, and recording coats of arms and heraldic badges.
